Prof. Diuto Esiobu, PhD

An experienced researcher, educator and seasoned entrepreneur, Prof. Esiobu is pivotal to the development of Biotechnology globally. Presently, she is the Coordinator of Professional Development for the International Education Committee of the American Society for Microbiology in Asia, South America and Africa. She is also the Chairperson of the International Advisory Board of the multi-million dollar World Bank Project in Nigeria. She is a project reviewer for the National Science Foundation (NSF) of the USA. She has organized training and technology transfer workshops in Biotechnology in several states of the US and Africa.
In Nigeria, Prof. Esiobu is a Consultant to the Federal Government on Biotechnology in Agriculture, Food, and Health Programme. She also plays an advisory role for the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA). She is also an active participant in the Biotechnology Unit of the Nigerian in Diaspora Programme of the Federal Government. She has also anchored several training and technology transfer workshops in conjunction with several Universities and Research Institutes in Nigeria.
She has received several National and International Awards from governments and organizations which include African Union, Congress of African Scientists and Policy Makers, UNESCO, American Society for Microbiology, Florida Atlantic University, International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, Austria, among others. Prof. Esiobu has published several journal articles in international journals.
She is a one of the Premier US Carnegie foundation African Diaspora Fellow, as Well as Jefferson Science Fellow and have served as a senior science advisor in the US Department of State on Global Food Security and International Health. She has trained several Masters and PhD students, review grants for national and international funding agencies and serves on the editorial boards of many international journals.
